Yang

Art Book, 2020


The project name < Yang > is the name of a boy who I admired for about six years since I was seventeen. Behind the story, is the connection exists as the two contiguous pages in the same book, besided each other but also be strange. Now we both exist in each other' s memories instead of current life. When I read the poems by Neruda, which collected in the book "Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair ", I have strong feeling about that love and despair always come together. So I find the gifts he gave to me, and the traces during that period in my life, also read my own diaries in the six years to finish this project. 

Since then, I believe that love is the combination of truth and fiction, as I return to read the emotional traces created by myself during those days, I also find they are still touching as the same extent as the truth. And what more important is —— the infinite and galactic space of creation between truth and fiction. 

The idea exhibited in the two parts of Neruda's poems, and all the metaphor come from the story itself. It combines love and despair, memory and fantasy, remains and regret, truth and fiction. This a private love letter, a castle of love build by a young girl, for the one and only audience.


在长达六年的故事背后,是简单却也复杂的,仿佛只是两页紧挨着的书页般的联系。我们曾经真实地存在过对方的生活里,直到我们变成记忆里无限的不可能。当我阅读聂鲁达的诗歌,强烈的直觉告诉我爱与绝望总是同时存在。于是我找到那些遗留在我生活里的馈赠,那段时间里微妙的痕迹,以及在那六年里我所创造的记录。

于是从那时起,我相信爱情本身是真实与虚构的总和,当我回头翻阅那些自己留下的情感痕迹,仍旧觉得它同真实一样动人。而更重要的,是真实与虚构之间那丰满而无限的创造空间。

爱与绝望总是同时存在的理念,被展现在拆分成两部分的聂鲁达的诗歌里,所有的隐喻皆来源于当时的痕迹。《Yang》包含着爱与绝望的组合、记忆与幻想、遗留与后悔、真实与虚构。这是一封私人情书,如果只做给唯一的观众。
